The whole family loves hummus. It's so good with everything. When we learned that it was so easy to make, we decided to make it from scratch.

homemade hummus; chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, olive oil, paprika.


Whip ¼ cup tahini and ¼ cup lemon juice for about a minute. Then add 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 clove minced garlic, ½ teaspoon ground cumin, and ½ teaspoon salt. Process it for another minute or so. Add a can of drained chickpeas. It helps to add the chickpeas in two batches. To make it thinner, add 2 tablespoons of ice cold water. Process it until smooth and then top if off with olive oil and a sprinkle of paprika. In the photo, I used the chili onion crunch from Trader Joe's.

Next we'll have to try making baba ganoush! ♥

It was a long month for us, marked by a weight of responsibility. Daily conversations about faith, life, parenthood, current events, the list goes on. It is so easy to get distracted with the small things and lose sight of the big picture (of what's eternal). And yet, life is also a series of small steps. ♥

This month was also filled with much living and learning, laughing and playing, eating and drinking (coffee and more coffee).

Our littlest love turned one! ♥ What a joy it has been to watch her grow, even though she is and acts like the baby of the family. It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating a first birthday with our first, and now it's for our third. We had a small celebration filled with an overabundance of food (as all parties should have). It was pretty chill and relaxing-- very different from the kind of night we had later on that day.

We were gifted cheese and our favorite fig spread, so it only made sense to make a cheese board! We enjoyed flowered brie de provence, parmesan, and alpenhorn cheese. We had some ritz crackers and bananas, so we added that as well.

We spent the day at the Aquarium of the Pacific. It was relaxing and fun to spend the day learning more about different animals. The weather was also really nice and it was good to be out and about with the family. ♥

Came across a new recipe for soy marinated eggs that we tried and it was delicious!

soy marinated eggs; 8 eggs, ¾ cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, 5 garlic cloves.


To start off, we brought all the ingredients (besides the eggs) to a boil and simmered it for 5 minutes. Then we soft boiled the eggs, 7 minutes.


Leave it marinated anywhere from an hour to a couple days.
